About this tour

This session walks old Valletta as the evening lights come on, from Republic Street to the co-cathedral of the Knights and the harbour view from the Upper Barrakka Gardens. The guide moves through the fortified peninsula in real time, pointing out the stories behind its squares and churches as the light changes. It is a slower, quieter look at the city than a daytime walk gives.

The call starts with a short sound check, then follows the walk stop by stop as the sky darkens over the harbour, with room for questions along the way. Afterwards the guide sends a short list of what was covered.

This suits anyone who prefers a city at night, whether a Valletta trip is being planned or this is simply an evening somewhere else. It also suits returning visitors who only ever saw the daytime version.

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Valletta before heading out.

  2. Republic Street at dusk 17 min

The camera follows Republic Street as the shop lights come on and the limestone façades turn gold in the evening light, with the guide pointing out details on the buildings that are easy to miss in daylight.

  3. St John's Co-Cathedral by night 17 min

Outside the co-cathedral, the guide explains the story of the Knights of St John who built it and describes what the Baroque interior held during the day, since the doors are closed by this hour.

  4. Upper Barrakka Gardens 17 min

From the gardens above the Grand Harbour, the camera takes in the lit-up Three Cities across the water, and the guide points out the saluting battery below before the walk winds back down.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Valletta: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kinnie and Valletta city centre, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Malta time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
