Through the Sea Gate to the cathedral
Highlights
- A gate that has served centuries
- Two towers finished at different times
- Carvings that changed with each ruler
- The old town's two most photographed spots
- History explained in a few minutes' walk
About this tour
This session moves from the old town's main gate straight to its cathedral, two buildings almost everyone photographs without stopping to look closely. You see the arched entrance that has served the town for centuries, then the twin towers of a Romanesque cathedral just inside it. It stays within a few minutes' walk throughout.
I explain the gate's carvings and the cathedral's uneven towers in real detail, since both have a clear answer once someone asks. The pace stays relaxed and questions are welcome at either stop.
This suits anyone who wants Kotor's two most photographed buildings properly explained. It also suits anyone with only a short amount of time before moving on.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

The camera reaches the twin-towered Romanesque cathedral just inside the walls, and I point out how the two towers were finished at different times, giving them a slightly different look up close.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
