Chemin de la Corniche, the balcony over Grund
Highlights
- Europe's most beautiful balcony
- Grund, seen from above
- Fortifications built into the cliff
- The Alzette valley, in one view
- Luxembourg's defining clifftop walk
About this tour
This session covers the Chemin de la Corniche, the clifftop walkway overlooking Grund and the Alzette valley. You see the view that earned it the nickname Europe's most beautiful balcony, then walk along the old ramparts built directly into the cliff. It is a short, visual session built around one defining Luxembourg view.
We start with a sound check at the main viewpoint, since it can be breezy along the cliff edge. I move along the fortifications for the second stop and take your questions about the view or the old walls as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone who wants a classic first look at Luxembourg City. It also works well as an opening or closing session for a longer visit.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

- A short list of places to visit later
Not included

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Luxembourg City before heading out.
-
Corniche viewpoint 15 min
The camera takes in the view over Grund and the Alzette valley below, and I explain why this walkway earned the nickname Europe's most beautiful balcony.
-
Corniche fortifications 15 min
We walk along the old ramparts, and I point out the remaining fortification walls built into the cliff face itself.

A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Judd mat Gaardebounen (smoked pork collar with broad beans) and Grund, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Luxembourg time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
