The Turia Gardens, a river turned park
Highlights
- A riverbed turned into a nine-kilometre park
- Old bridges now crossing grass, not water
- One of Europe's largest urban parks
- Valencia's answer to a major flood
- A calm, green start to the day
About this tour
This early walk follows the Turia Gardens, a nine-kilometre park built along the old course of the Turia river after it was diverted from the city. You see the wide green channel where the water once ran and one of the old bridges now crossing grass instead of a river. It is one of the largest urban parks of its kind in Europe.
I start near the old town and walk a short stretch of the park while the morning is quiet, pointing out the bridges and the layout as we go. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short note afterwards on what we covered.
This suits anyone who wants a calmer, greener side of Valencia. It also works well as a gentle start before a longer day in the old town.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
