Where the Pegnitz splits the old town

- Nuremberg's basic geography, explained
- An island dividing centuries of history
- The Pegnitz, shaping a city's layout
About this tour
This session looks at how the Pegnitz visibly divides Nuremberg's old town into two historic halves. You see the river splitting around a small central island and the northern bank where the St. Sebald parish grew up separately from St. Lorenz across the water. It is a short session focused on the city's basic geography and how it shaped two distinct parishes.
I keep a steady pace along the riverbank, explaining how the two halves developed their own character over the centuries. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short note afterwards on the parish history.
This suits anyone who wants to understand the old town's layout before diving into its individual landmarks. It also works well as an orientation session before the Kaiserburg walk.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
