The market square and its Müller organ church, live
Highlights
- A market square trading since medieval times
- An organ once played by a young Mozart
- Stepped gables ringing the main square
- A church tower that dominates the skyline
- The clearest starting point in the city
About this tour
This session covers Haarlem's central square and the church that dominates it, tracing the market that has run here for centuries and the organ that drew a very young Mozart through the city. You see the square's stepped gables and then the church tower rising above them. It is the clearest starting point for understanding the city's centre.
We start with a slow turn across the square before settling on the church tower, since the building rewards a longer look than a quick pass. I take questions about either the square's trading history or the organ's story.
It suits anyone wanting the essential first stop in the city explained properly. It works well as the very first session before exploring further independently.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
