About this tour
This session follows Biarritz's grand seafront, from the Hôtel du Palais that an empress built to the beach that made the town famous. You see the Belle Époque architecture that still shapes the skyline and the surfers who share the water with history now. It traces how one woman's holiday habit changed an entire coastline.
We start at the hotel so you get the full scale of the building before moving to the open beach, where the light and the waves take over. I keep the pace easy and answer questions about the empress or the surf as they come. A short note on the town's history follows the call.
This suits anyone new to Biarritz who wants the short version of how it became a resort. It also works well as a first stop before a longer, more specific session.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Biarritz before heading out.
-
Hôtel du Palais 21 min
The camera holds on the red-brick and white-stone facade built as a seaside residence for Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III. I explain how her taste for sea bathing turned a small fishing town into a fashionable resort almost overnight.
-
Grande Plage promenade 21 min
We walk the wide promenade in front of the hotel, surfers visible in the water most of the year even in winter. I point out the Belle Époque bathing hut design echoed in the modern beach cabins still used today.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Biarritz: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Piperade and Port Vieux, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
