Old Batumi's merchant streets
Highlights
- Ironwork balconies on merchant houses
- A nineteenth-century trading house courtyard
- Old Batumi's port-era streets
- Wealth signalled through architecture
- A quieter side of the city
About this tour
This walk covers old Batumi's grid of nineteenth-century merchant streets, built up when the port's trade routes were at their busiest. You see the ironwork balconies that once signalled a family's wealth, then the courtyard of a former trading house. It is a quieter side of Batumi than the boulevard, built for trade rather than leisure.
We move slowly along the street so the balconies read clearly on camera, then step into the courtyard for a closer look. I explain the trade history that shaped the grid and take questions as we go.
It suits anyone who wants Batumi's older commercial history explained, and it pairs well with a boulevard session for contrast.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
