The walls without the full climb
Highlights
- The bay's view, without the full climb
- A gate built beside a natural spring
- How the walls change, layer by layer
- An overlooked angle on the bay
- An easier alternative to the summit climb
About this tour
This session climbs the fortification walls only partway, for anyone who wants the view without committing to the full ascent to the fortress. You see a gate beside a natural spring, a first stretch of the walls, and a viewpoint partway up where the bay already opens out clearly. It stops well short of the summit throughout.
I keep the pace gentle since this is meant as an easier alternative to the full climb, and I explain the wall's construction as we go rather than rushing toward any single point. Questions about the bay's shape are welcome at the viewpoint.
This suits anyone who wants the view without the longer climb to the fortress. It also suits anyone curious about the walls themselves rather than only the summit.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Kotor before heading out.
-
Gurdić Gate and Spring 21 min
You see a smaller gate on the old town's edge beside a natural spring that has supplied water here for centuries, and I explain why this side of town grew up around the water rather than the harbour.
-
Lower City Walls 21 min
The camera climbs a first stretch of the fortification wall without going all the way to the fortress above, and I point out how the construction changes as the higher sections climb, layer by layer.
-
Mid-Height Bay Viewpoint 21 min
From partway up the walls, the bay opens out below in a wide curve, and I explain why this angle is often overlooked by anyone who only climbs to the very top.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Kotor: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Montenegrin wine and Old Town, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Podgorica time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
