La Ciudad, Ronda's walled old town
Highlights
- A gate that controlled entry
- Moorish and Christian layers, one wall
- A lane quiet at this hour
- Doorways worn by real use
- A calm start to the day
About this tour
This session walks La Ciudad, the older walled quarter on the southern side of the gorge, from the horseshoe-arched Puerta de Almocábar to a quiet lane inside the walls. You see how Moorish and Christian building phases sit on the same stretch of stone. The route stays short and calm, built for an early hour before the town fills.
We begin at the gate with a short check of the morning light, then move slowly into the quarter, pausing at worn doorways and old stonework along the way. I answer questions as we go and send a short note on the quarter's layout afterward.
This suits early risers and anyone who prefers a quiet walled town to a single famous view. It also works well as a calm start before crossing to the newer side of the gorge.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Ronda before heading out.
-
Puerta de Almocábar 21 min
The camera settles on the horseshoe-arched gate that once controlled entry to the walled quarter, and I explain how the town's Moorish and later Christian layers both left their mark on the same stretch of wall.
-
A quiet lane in La Ciudad 21 min
You see a narrow, stone-paved lane inside the old walls, quiet at this hour, and I point out worn doorways that suggest centuries of continuous use rather than restoration for visitors.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Ronda: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Migas and San Francisco, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
