Kolonaki galleries and the Benaki courtyard
Highlights
- A gallery window on a Kolonaki side street
- The Benaki's neoclassical courtyard up close
- Contemporary Greek art, seen from outside
- A neighbourhood built around small galleries
- A private house turned public museum
About this tour
This walk covers the smaller galleries of Kolonaki before finishing at the courtyard of the Benaki Museum. Nikos points out which streets hold the most active gallery scene and what kind of work tends to show there. The session stays outside the buildings throughout, using windows and courtyards to bring the art into view.
After checking the connection outside the first gallery, Nikos moves between two or three storefronts depending on what is showing that week, then finishes at the Benaki. He answers questions about the artists as he goes and slows down for anyone who wants a longer look at a piece. He sends a short list of the galleries seen afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in contemporary Greek art who wants a starting point before visiting galleries on their own. It also works for travellers short on time who still want a sense of the city's art scene.

Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Athens time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
