Sponza Palace and the old archives
Highlights

- A former customs house explained
- The city's historic archives, housed here
- Administrative Dubrovnik, up close
- A quiet building off Stradun
About this tour
This session looks at the Sponza Palace, a 16th-century building mixing Gothic and Renaissance styles just off Stradun. You see the contrast between its two storeys from outside, then the inner courtyard, once the republic's customs house and now home to the city's historic archives. It shows a quieter, more functional side of the old republic's buildings.
We start at the facade with a sound check, then move into the courtyard for the second stop, taking questions about the archives and their contents. A short note follows once the call ends.
It suits anyone with an interest in Dubrovnik's administrative history specifically. It also works well as a short add-on to the Rector's Palace session.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
