- Centuries of public history, explained
- Ghent's civic heart, up close

About this tour
This session covers the Vrijdagmarkt and the medieval cannon known as Dulle Griet. You see the square where Ghent's guilds once gathered and hear its history as a site of public meetings, then stop at the huge cannon and the legend behind its nickname. It is a short session mixing civic history with a genuinely strange object.
We start with a sound check in the square, since it can be busy on market days. I move to the cannon for the second stop and take your questions about the square's history or the cannon's legend as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone with an interest in civic history or unusual medieval objects. It also works well as a quick add-on before a longer session in the centre.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
