About this tour

This session climbs Fourvière hill as evening approaches, ending with a full panorama of Lyon lit gold by the setting sun. You see the city's landmarks appear one by one on the way up, then the two rivers catching the light together from the main terrace. Théo explains what to look for in each direction, layer by layer, as the light changes.

The call opens with a sound check partway up the hill, then follows the path to the main terrace at a relaxed pace. Théo takes questions throughout and holds the view as long as the light allows, since the best colour only lasts a few minutes. A short list of the landmarks pointed out follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who wants Lyon's skyline properly explained rather than just photographed. It also works well as a closing session after a day spent elsewhere in the city.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lyon before heading out.

  2. Fourvière hill approach 17 min

The camera climbs toward the hill as the city spreads out gradually below. I point out landmarks becoming visible one by one as the elevation increases.

  3. Main viewpoint terrace 17 min

You see the full panorama of Lyon and its two rivers from the main terrace, the light starting to turn gold. I explain which direction to look for each of the city's key districts.

  4. Sunset over the rivers 17 min

The camera holds on the view as the sun sets behind the hills, the Saône and Rhône both catching the colour. I point out how rarely this exact light lasts more than a few minutes.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Lyon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Praline tart and Vieux Lyon, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
