The i360 tower, from the promenade below
Highlights
- A tall tower seen from ground level
- A glass pod moving slowly up and down
- What stood here before it was built
- Modern engineering beside an old pier
- A steady, easy watching session
About this tour
This call looks at the tall observation tower on the seafront entirely from the promenade below. You see the full height of the structure first, then the glass viewing pod as it moves slowly up and down. I explain what stood on this stretch of coast before the tower was built.
We watch a full cycle of the pod's movement while taking questions about the design and its designers, keeping a relaxed pace throughout. A short design note follows by message after the call.
This suits anyone interested in modern engineering beside the coast's older structures. It also works well paired with a call on the historic pier nearby.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Brighton before heading out.
-
The tower's full height 15 min
The camera tilts slowly up the full height of the tower, and I explain what stood on this stretch of seafront before it was built and why the design was chosen.
-
The pod in motion 15 min
You watch the glass viewing pod slowly rise and fall along the tower, and I point out how its movement compares with the fixed structure of the pier beside it.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Brighton: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Doughnuts from the pier and North Laine, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in London time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
