  • A lighter, more personal Tower story

About this tour

This short session focuses entirely on the Tower's resident ravens and the small team responsible for them, told by a former front-of-house guide with years of overlapping mornings with the keepers. It covers the ravens' legend and the practical, unglamorous work of actually looking after them. It is a lighter, more personal session than a full fortress history.

We start on the green with the legend itself, then talk through what a keeper's morning actually involves. Questions about specific birds and their personalities come up often, and I answer from stories I picked up over years working nearby. I finish with a note on how the birds' wings are managed.

It suits families and casual viewers more than a formal history session would. It also suits anyone who simply likes a good animal story alongside their sightseeing.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of London before heading out.

  2. Raven green 15 min

The camera holds on the open green where the ravens are usually kept during the day, and I explain the long-standing belief that the Tower and the kingdom would fall if the ravens ever left.

  3. Keeper's rounds 15 min

If timing allows, you may see a keeper doing their morning rounds, and I explain what the role actually involves day to day, feeding, checking wings and keeping records on each bird.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about London: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Sunday roast and Soho, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in London time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
