An open-air gallery in Piazza della Signoria
Highlights
- A square that works as an open gallery
- Renaissance statues, named individually
- Centuries of sculpture kept outdoors
- A fountain anchoring the wider space
- History read through public art
About this tour
This session treats Piazza della Signoria as an open-air sculpture gallery rather than simply the square in front of the town hall. You see a group of Renaissance statues up close, and the fountain that anchors the wider space. The camera moves slowly between figures, as a gallery visit would.
We pause properly at each statue rather than walking past quickly, since the square holds more genuine sculpture than most people realise. I name the sculptors and explain their significance as we go, and take questions on individual works.
It suits anyone interested in Renaissance sculpture displayed in its original outdoor setting. It also pairs well with the Loggia dei Lanzi session nearby.
Included

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Florence before heading out.
-
Statue group 21 min
The camera moves past a group of Renaissance statues standing in the open square, and I name each sculptor and explain what made the work significant.
-
Fountain and square 21 min
Turning towards the fountain, I explain how the square has functioned as a genuine outdoor gallery for centuries rather than just a civic space.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Florence: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Ribollita and Oltrarno, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
