About this tour

This evening session follows a street of bars near the amphitheatre as it fills for the evening, finishing with the amphitheatre itself lit up after dark. You see reused Roman stone in later buildings along the way, then the arena's arches glowing under carefully chosen lighting. Solène explains how the evening version of this corner of Arles differs from its daytime character.

The call opens with a sound check as the street starts to fill, then moves toward the amphitheatre as full darkness sets in. Solène keeps things warm and unhurried, letting the lighting and the evening atmosphere set the pace. A short list of the stops follows by message once the session ends.

This suits anyone who has already seen the amphitheatre by day and wants its evening version too. It also suits viewers simply curious about Arles after dark.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Arles before heading out.

  2. Rue du Docteur Fanton at dusk 21 min

The camera follows a street of bars and restaurants near the amphitheatre as evening tables fill outside. I point out which buildings on this street are Roman-era stone reused in later construction.

  3. Amphitheatre lit at night 21 min

You see the amphitheatre lit from below, its arches taking on a different character after dark than in daylight. I explain how the lighting design was chosen to highlight the original stonework specifically.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Arles: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tapenade and La Cavalerie, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
