About this tour

This session looks at the Ars Electronica Center by daylight, when the individual panels making up its facade are easier to study than after dark. You see the panel structure up close and then a wider view from the Nibelungenbrücke, framing both riverside museums together. It is a more technical companion to an after-dark session on the same buildings.

I stay close on the panels first, explaining how the lighting system works panel by panel, then move to the bridge for a wider view. Questions come in on the technology throughout, and I answer them as we go. A short note on visiting the museum's interior follows for anyone interested in a later visit.

This suits anyone who prefers understanding how something works over just seeing the effect. It also pairs well with the after-dark session for a full picture of the buildings.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Linz before heading out.

  2. Facade Panel Structure 15 min

You see the individual glass and LED panels making up the facade, and I explain how each one can shift colour independently.

  3. View From the Bridge 15 min

From the Nibelungenbrücke, the camera frames both the Ars Electronica Center and the Lentos together across the water.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Linz: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Erdäpfelgulasch (potato goulash) and Altstadt, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Vienna time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
