About this tour
This session climbs Castle Hill to the remaining tower of Vilnius's upper castle and takes in the old town from its viewing platform. You see what is left of the original fortification, then a wide view over the squares and church towers below. It is a short session built around one clear view rather than a long walk.
I start with a sound check partway up the hill, since wind picks up near the top, then reach the platform and take questions as we take in each part of the skyline. A short note on the castle's history follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone wanting an overview before exploring the old town in more detail. It also works well as a first session for a first-time visitor.

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Beetroot soup (šaltibarščiai) and Užupis, worth a slower look.
