  • What a small town once staged
  • Stonework worth a second look
  • Kotor's quieter architectural corners

About this tour

This session pairs two buildings that most visitors walk past without a second look. You see the courtyard of a baroque palace now used as a maritime museum, then the roofless walls of a theatre that has stood empty for generations. It moves between two very different kinds of ruin and restoration.

I explain the palace's stonework properly before moving to the theatre, since both buildings say something different about the town's past. Questions about either are welcome, and I go into as much architectural detail as anyone wants.

This suits anyone who prefers the town's quieter corners over its busiest squares. It also suits anyone curious about Kotor's history beyond its walls and its cathedral.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Kotor before heading out.

  2. Maritime Museum Courtyard 15 min

You see the courtyard of a baroque palace now used as a maritime museum, and I point out details in the stonework that most visitors miss on their way to the exhibits inside.

  3. Napoleon's Theatre Ruins 15 min

The camera reaches the roofless walls of a theatre built in the early nineteenth century, and I explain how a town this size once supported a stage of its own.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Kotor: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Seafood risotto and Škaljari, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Podgorica time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
