About this tour

This short call describes Poznan's cellar bars, set into the foundations of the market square's merchant houses. You hear about the history of these spaces rather than seeing a live walk, since I stay in one bar for the whole call. It is a quieter, conversational look at the square after dark.

I start with a short introduction to how these cellars were originally used, then describe how a few of them became bars over the last few decades. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short list of my favourites afterwards.

This suits anyone who wants a feel for Poznan's evening side rather than another walking session. It also works well as a short, relaxed close to a day of calls.

Itinerary

  1. Hello, and what you want to know 5 min

The guide calls you and asks what you are after: planning Poznan, recommendations, or just questions.

  2. Poznan's Cellar Bars, Described 17 min

I sit in one of the cellar bars beneath the market square and describe how these spaces were built into the merchant houses' foundations centuries ago.

  3. Your questions 5 min

Ask anything that is still on your mind, there is no fixed script.

  4. A written note after the call 3 min

You get a short follow-up message with everything mentioned, so you do not have to remember it all.

Good to know

  • A stable phone or internet connection, whichever the guide uses to reach you.
  • No app to install. You answer when the guide calls, or join a video call if you would rather.
  • Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The call is not recorded. Keep your own note of anything you want to remember, or wait for the follow-up message.
  • Have your questions ready, though there is time to think of more as you go.

Questions about this tour

What will the call cover?

The guide talks you through Poznan: where to go, what to eat, and answers to whatever you ask.

What happens if the call drops?

The guide will try you again straight away.

Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?

Anything, any time. Sessions leave room for your own questions throughout, not just at the end.

Is this suitable if I do not drink?

Yes. Say so when you book and the guide will focus on the atmosphere and venues rather than the drinks list.

How it works

  • Your guide calls the number you give at booking.
  • We speak over a video call rather than walking anywhere. I sit in one of the cellar bars, close enough to the room for you to hear it.

Times shown in Warsaw time (CET)

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
