Malasaña after dark
Highlights
- A street filling up after dark
- A bar doubling as a record shop
- A square's daytime and night faces
- Decades-old bars beside new arrivals
- Malasaña's nightlife, properly explained
About this tour
This session shows Malasaña after dark, starting on Calle de la Palma and finishing at Plaza del Dos de Mayo once the evening crowd has properly settled in. You see a bar that doubles as a record shop and a square that looks nothing like its daytime self. It is the same neighbourhood as the daytime walking session, seen at a completely different hour.
We move slowly between stops so you can hear the change in noise and see the crowd building as the evening goes on. I point out which bars are decades old and which are recent arrivals, since both kinds fill this street. The pace loosens up compared with my daytime sessions.
This suits evening viewers who want a real sense of Malasaña's nightlife rather than a highlight reel. It also pairs well with the daytime walking session for the fuller picture of the same streets.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Madrid before heading out.
-
Calle de la Palma 21 min
The street fills with a younger crowd as the evening goes on, bars spilling out onto the pavement. I point out which spots have been here for decades and which opened in just the last couple of years.
-
A record bar 21 min
You see a small bar that doubles as a record shop, vinyl stacked behind the counter. I ask the owner to play something and explain how the two businesses ended up sharing one small room.
-
Plaza del Dos de Mayo at night 21 min
The same square from the day session looks completely different after dark, full of people sitting on the ground with drinks from nearby shops. I explain how the square's atmosphere shifts through the evening.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Madrid: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bocadillo de calamares and Malasaña, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.
Questions about this tour
What will the session cover?
The guide walks through Madrid, showing you Calle de la Palma and A record bar live on camera, plus whatever else you would like to see.
What happens if my connection drops?
Rejoin with the same link within a few minutes and the guide will catch you up on anything you missed.
Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?
Anything, any time. Sessions leave room for your own questions throughout, not just at the end.
Is this suitable if I do not drink?
Yes. Say so when you book and the guide will focus on the atmosphere and venues rather than the drinks list.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
