The Musée d'Aquitaine's courtyard and the river past
Highlights
- A museum building, seen from outside
- Carved stone pieces in an open courtyard
- The building's earlier use, explained
- A quiet corner near a busy street
- The river trade told through stone
About this tour
This call looks at the building and courtyard of the city's history museum entirely from outside. You see the facade first, then a quiet courtyard where a handful of carved stone pieces sit in the open air. I explain what the building was used for before it told the story of the river trade.
We start on the street facing the entrance and take questions before moving into the courtyard for a closer look at the stonework outside. A short reading note on the pieces we saw follows the call.
This suits anyone curious about the city's trading past without needing to step inside a museum. It also works well before a longer walking call in the old town.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

- A short list of places to visit later

The camera takes in the museum's stone facade from the street, and I explain what the building housed before it became a museum of the city's history.

The exterior courtyard 15 min
You see the quiet courtyard beside the building where a few carved stone fragments are displayed outdoors, and I point out details on the pieces closest to the camera.

Time to ask anything about Bordeaux: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Entrecôte à la bordelaise and Chartrons, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
