Pedralbes Monastery, from the outer courtyard
Highlights
- A fourteenth-century Gothic monastery
- One of the largest surviving Gothic cloisters
- A still-active community behind old walls
- Quiet Gothic architecture away from crowds
- Barcelona's edge, seen through one building
About this tour
This session looks at Pedralbes Monastery from its outer courtyard, a fourteenth-century Gothic complex on the edge of the city. You see the courtyard itself and the edge of its three-storey cloister, one of the largest of its kind still standing. It is a quieter, less visited side of Barcelona's Gothic architecture.
I move around the courtyard slowly, explaining the monastery's history and its still-active community as we go. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short note once we finish.
This suits anyone interested in Gothic architecture away from the old town's crowds. It also pairs well with a session on Sarrià's old village streets nearby.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
