Sainte-Catherine's old fish market streets

- Brussels before the docks were filled

About this tour
This session covers Sainte-Catherine, a quieter part of central Brussels built on the site of the old fish market and docks. You see the church square where the market once stood, then walk a street of older shopfronts with tiled facades from the area's trading past. It is a short, low-key look at a part of the centre most visitors pass without stopping.
We start with a sound check on the church square, which stays fairly quiet outside market hours. I move at an easy pace to the second stop and take your questions about the area's history as we go. A short note on the old docks follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone curious about the quieter, older trading streets of central Brussels. It also works well as a calm addition after a busier session on the Grand Place.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
