About this tour

This call looks at the green spaces around Lille's citadel, starting in Jardin Vauban, laid out in the nineteenth century over the fortress's old moat. Chloé walks to the nearby Champ de Mars, an open green space that still hosts markets and events. The session shows a side of the citadel most visitors overlook in favour of the fortress itself.

Chloé begins among the trees with a short sound check. She moves at a calm, unhurried pace toward the open field, answering questions about the park's planting and history as they arrive, and sends a short note on quieter times to visit.

It suits anyone who prefers green space to fortress walls. It also works well for viewers planning a relaxed morning away from the busier parts of the city.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lille before heading out.

  2. Jardin Vauban 15 min

The camera moves slowly through mature trees and formal flower beds, and Chloé explains how the park was laid out in the nineteenth century over the fortress's old moat.

  3. Champ de Mars 15 min

A short walk from the trees, the camera crosses the open green space beside the citadel, and Chloé points out how it still hosts markets and events much as it always has.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Lille: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Potjevleesch and Wazemmes, worth a slower look.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
