Porta Romana's new galleries, from the courtyard
Highlights
- A gilded building among concrete ones
- A distillery turned into an art space
- Porta Romana's changing streets
- Contemporary art, seen from outside
- Milan's newest arts district
About this tour
This session covers Fondazione Prada's courtyard and the Porta Romana streets around it. You see the gilded building set among the site's older concrete structures, then step back to the street to see how the wider district has shifted since the gallery opened. It is a short look at how contemporary art has reshaped one corner of Milan.
We start with a sound check in the courtyard, filmed from the public areas since the galleries themselves are ticketed. I move to the street for the second stop and take questions about the foundation or the district's change as we go. A short list of current exhibitions follows by message afterwards where relevant.
It suits anyone with an interest in contemporary art or Milan's shifting neighbourhoods. It also works well paired with a session in the older Quadrilatero della Moda.

From the courtyard the camera takes in the gilded building among the concrete ones, and I explain how a former distillery became one of Milan's most talked about art spaces.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
