The Alhambra's Torres Bermejas, an older fortress
Highlights
- Older than parts of the Alhambra
- A fortress most visitors miss
- A quiet path, few crowds
- Two building styles compared
- History across the ravine
About this tour
This session shows the Torres Bermejas from Realejo below, a fortress older than large parts of the Alhambra yet overlooked by most visitors focused on the main complex across the ravine. You see the towers from below and the quiet path leading up to them. The route stays outside, comparing this older fortress's style with the more famous palaces nearby.
We begin looking up at the towers with a short check of the light, then follow the quiet path partway up, pausing to compare building styles. I answer questions about the fortress's older history as we go and send a short note on its relationship to the Alhambra afterward.
This suits history-minded travellers who have already covered the main Alhambra and want a lesser-known angle, and anyone who prefers quieter sites. It works well as a short session between busier ones.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Granada before heading out.
-
The towers from below 15 min
The camera looks up at the Torres Bermejas from the Realejo neighbourhood, a fortress older than parts of the Alhambra itself, and I explain why it is often overlooked despite standing just across the ravine.
-
The path toward the towers 15 min
You see the quiet path leading up toward the towers, far less busy than the main Alhambra entrance, and I point out the different building style compared with the more famous palaces nearby.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Granada: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tapas served free with drinks and Sacromonte, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
