About this tour

This session follows the line of Lecce's old fortifications, starting at the surviving Porta Napoli gate and ending at a quiet stretch of wall tucked between later buildings. You see the public gardens laid out over part of the old defences along the way. Every stop sits on open streets or in the public park.

I walk the route at a steady pace, stopping longer at each of the three points rather than rushing between them, and take questions as we go. Near the end I answer anything still open and send a short map of the route by message.

It suits anyone who likes tracing how a modern city grew out of its old fortified shape. It also gives a quieter, greener side of Lecce than the busier central squares.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lecce before heading out.

  2. Porta Napoli 21 min

The camera frames the Renaissance arch from the outside, and I explain who commissioned it and why it replaced an older, plainer gate into the city.

  3. Villa Comunale 21 min

Walking into the public gardens, you see paths and old trees laid out where part of the city walls used to run, and I point out where the fortifications would have stood.

  4. A surviving stretch of wall 21 min

At a quieter corner nearby, the camera shows one of the few remaining sections of the old defensive wall still visible between later buildings.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Lecce: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pasticciotto and Centro storico, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
