Pedregalejo, the old fishing quarter
Highlights
- A cottage from before the change
- Old boat ramps, still visible
- A shoreline once used for work
- A quarter changed, not erased
- An easy walk along the water
About this tour
This session walks Pedregalejo, from a surviving single-storey fishing cottage to the paved seafront path that was once a working shoreline for hauling in boats. You see how much of the quarter has changed and how much genuinely has not. The route stays flat along the water, easy to follow at any pace.
We begin at the cottage with a short check of the light, then walk the seafront path, pausing at the old boat ramps still visible between buildings. I answer questions about the quarter's fishing past as we go and send a short note on its history afterward.
This suits anyone interested in how a neighbourhood changes without losing all trace of what it was, and travellers who prefer a genuine local quarter to the central beaches. It works well mid-morning, before the seafront gets busy.

Itinerary

Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Malaga before heading out.
-
A surviving fisherman's cottage 21 min
The camera settles on one of the few remaining single-storey fishing cottages along the front, and I explain how most of the quarter once looked like this before beachside restaurants took over the ground floors.
-
The seafront path 21 min
You see the paved path running along the water, once a working shoreline used to haul in boats, and I point out where the old boat ramps are still visible between the current buildings.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Malaga: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Porra antequerana and Pedregalejo, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
