About this tour
This call is built around the vast concrete submarine base that now hosts large-scale light art, seen entirely from the dock outside. You see the scale of the wartime structure first, then the coloured light spilling from its openings onto the water. I explain the building's original purpose before we settle in to watch.
We open with the concrete hull itself and questions about its history, then find a good spot on the dock as the projections begin and the light starts moving across the water. A short list of that evening's colours and themes follows by message.
This suits anyone who likes an unusual mix of history and modern art in one session. It also works well as a second, later call after an earlier walk through the same district.
Included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bordeaux before heading out.
-
The concrete hull 17 min
The camera holds on the huge grey concrete block of the former submarine base, and I explain why a structure this size was built on the river during the war.
-
Projected light through the openings 17 min
You watch coloured light moving across the water where it spills out through the base's old openings, projected onto the interior walls out of sight but visible on the surface.
-
The dock at night 17 min
You see the whole scene reflected on the dark water in front of the base, and I point out how the colours shift as the show inside continues.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Bordeaux: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Foie gras and Saint-Pierre, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
