Atatürk Forest Farm, gardens on the edge of the city
Highlights
- Gardens planted on the city's edge
- A model farm founded deliberately
- A farmhouse from the early years
- Farming combined with public leisure
- A small zoo within the grounds
About this tour
This session follows Atatürk Forest Farm from its planted gardens to the old farmhouse and the small zoo within the grounds. You see rows of cultivated gardens, a farmhouse building from the project's early years, and finally a few enclosures showing how the site grew over time. Together the stops trace an unusual combination of farming and public park.
I begin with a sound check among the gardens, then we move toward the farmhouse while you ask questions about the project's origins. I keep a relaxed pace throughout the grounds. Afterwards I send a short note on the history we covered.
This suits anyone curious about Ankara's early Republican projects beyond its monuments. It also suits a family looking for a gentler, greener session.

-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kavurma and Ulus, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
