  • A short, close look at the cathedral

About this tour

This short session focuses entirely on the cathedral's carved stonework rather than the building as a whole. You see the weathered figures on the main portal up close, then a quieter side entrance where the carving survived in sharper detail. Léa, who trained as a translator, explains details that reward a slow, steady look.

The call opens with a sound check right at the main portal, then moves briefly to the side entrance. Léa keeps the camera tight on the carvings throughout and answers questions about individual figures as they come up. A short list of what was shown follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who prefers close detail over a wide overview of the building. It also works well as a short add-on to a longer cathedral session.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Strasbourg before heading out.

  2. Western portal carvings 15 min

The camera moves slowly across the carved figures on the cathedral's main portal, weathered but still legible after centuries outside. I point out a detail most visitors miss without a close, steady shot.

  3. Side chapel details 15 min

You see smaller, less-visited carvings on a side entrance away from the main crowds. I explain why these figures survived in better condition than the ones on the busier façade.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Strasbourg: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Choucroute garnie and Petite France, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 7 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
