Batumi Lighthouse, still working since 1863
Highlights
- A lighthouse working since 1863
- One of Batumi's oldest structures
- The old port entrance, marked
- Unchanged while the city rebuilt
- A short, focused coastal stop
About this tour
This short session covers Batumi's old lighthouse, still marking the port entrance since 1863. You see the tower itself up close, largely unchanged while the city around it has been rebuilt several times over. It is a brief, focused look at one of Batumi's oldest working structures.
We spend the call near the lighthouse and the breakwater below it, since the point is a close, steady look rather than movement. I explain its history and answer questions as they come up.
It suits anyone who wants a quick, specific stop, and it works well as a short add-on to a longer boulevard or old town session.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later
Not included
- Internet connection
- Travel to the city
Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Batumi before heading out.
-
The lighthouse tower 15 min
The camera looks up at the lighthouse, still marking the old port entrance since 1863, and I explain how it has kept working through the city's changes.
-
The rocks below 15 min
I turn the phone down to the breakwater rocks at the tower's base, where fishermen still cast lines in the evening, and point out the old iron fittings from the original 19th-century structure.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Batumi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Hazelnuts and New Boulevard, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
