About this tour

This session follows two stops on Lodz's Urban Forms mural trail, a city-wide project that invited international artists to paint the sides of ordinary tenements. You see one large mural covering a full building face, then a very different style a short walk away. It is a look at how contemporary art has been added onto a nineteenth-century streetscape.

We move slowly between the two walls so you can actually read the detail in each one, with a short sound check at the first stop. I explain the artists and the project as we go and take questions on either piece. A written list of further murals to look for follows afterwards.

It suits anyone with an interest in street art or contemporary painting. It also pairs well with a more historical session for a fuller sense of how Lodz mixes old and new.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lodz before heading out.

  2. A large-scale mural wall 15 min

The camera stops in front of a large mural covering the full side of a tenement, and I explain who painted it and what the city asked for when the wall was offered up.

  3. A second mural, different style 15 min

A short walk away, we reach a very different piece by another artist, and you see how the Urban Forms project deliberately mixes styles across the same few streets.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Lodz: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kielbasa and Srodmiescie, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
