The castle's outer fortification walls
Highlights
- Walls reinforced across centuries
- A gate that once controlled entry
- Defensive history, not grand interiors
- Fortifications still standing today
- The castle's scale, seen from outside
About this tour
This session covers a stretch of the castle's outer fortification walls and one of its gates, away from the busier courtyards inside. You see the walls reinforced at different points across the centuries, then a gate that once controlled who could enter. It is a defensive-history session rather than a look at the castle's grander buildings.
I keep a steady pace along the walls, since the walk itself illustrates the scale of the fortifications. Questions come as we go, and I am happy to explain a specific reinforcement again if it is unclear. A short note on which sections are open to walk today follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in military or defensive history rather than only the castle's grand interiors. It also works well paired with the Golden Lane session.

Good to know

- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Prague time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
