About this tour

This session covers Dülük Ancient City, from its settlement ruins to the rock-cut tombs nearby and a wider overlook from higher ground. You see low stone foundations marking centuries of occupation, tombs carved directly into rock, and finally a view connecting the ancient site to the modern city in the distance. Each stop adds a different layer to a site most visitors never hear about.

I begin with a sound check among the ruins, then we move toward the tombs while you ask questions about the site's history. I keep expectations realistic about what remains compared with better known ruins elsewhere. Afterwards I send a short written note on what we saw.

This suits anyone who wants to go beyond Gaziantep's food and museums into its ancient history. It also suits a traveller with a serious interest in archaeology looking for something less visited.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Gaziantep before heading out.

  2. Settlement Ruins 21 min

The camera looks across low stone foundations marking an ancient settlement outside the city. I explain how long this site has been occupied, layer upon layer.

  3. Rock-Cut Tombs 21 min

You see tombs carved directly into a rock face nearby. I point out carved details still visible despite centuries of weather.

  4. Hillside Overlook 21 min

From higher ground, the camera takes in the wider site and the modern city visible in the distance. I explain how the settlement's location was chosen.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Gaziantep: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Küşleme (chopped lamb kebab) and Şahinbey, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Istanbul time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
