Alcantara's docks, from warehouse to gallery
Highlights
- A warehouse turned gallery space
- Trains still running on the old line
- The bridge overhead, seen from below
- A riverside pattern of reuse continued
- Alcantara's docks, warehouse to gallery
About this tour
This session walks Alcantara's docks, following a similar path of reuse to LX Factory just up the road. You see a former warehouse now used as gallery space, then the dockside walkway running beneath the 25 de Abril bridge, trains still passing on the original line. It links two neighbouring stretches of Lisbon's riverside industrial past.
We check the connection at the warehouse, then walk the dockside for the second stop, taking questions about the docks' working history. I send a short list of names once the session ends.
It suits anyone who enjoyed LX Factory and wants to see how the reuse pattern continues along the riverside, and travellers interested in industrial history generally. This session covers the public dockside rather than any gallery's interior.

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lisbon before heading out.
-
An old warehouse 15 min
The camera shows a former riverside warehouse now converted into gallery space, and I explain how several buildings along these docks followed the same path as LX Factory nearby.
-
The dockside walkway 15 min
We continue along the dockside walkway, and I point out the bridge overhead and the trains still running along the original rail line.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Lisbon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pastel de nata and Belém, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Lisbon time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
