Gran Vía's rooftop bars
Highlights
- The avenue's signage from above
- A quieter terrace with the same view
- A late crowd of workers and visitors
- Three terraces, three different nights
- Gran Vía's energy, seen from above
About this tour
This session tours three rooftop terraces along and just off Gran Vía, from a hotel terrace looking straight down the avenue to a quieter side-street spot and a late-night option. You see the avenue's lit signage from above and how the crowd and atmosphere shift between each stop. Each terrace gives a genuinely different read on the same street.
We move between the three at a relaxed pace, timed so the avenue is properly lit by the time we start. I point out landmarks visible from each terrace and explain why some stay busier than others. Questions about specific bars or the avenue's history both come up throughout.
This suits evening viewers who want Gran Vía's energy from above rather than down on the street. It also works well paired with a quieter session for anyone who wants both sides of the avenue.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Madrid before heading out.
-
A hotel rooftop terrace 21 min
This terrace looks straight down the avenue, the lit signage stretching into the distance. I point out which buildings you can name just by their rooftop lettering alone.
-
A quieter side-street terrace 21 min
One street back from the main avenue, this terrace stays calmer even on busy nights. I explain why it gets overlooked despite a nearly identical view.
-
A late-night terrace 21 min
The last stop stays open later than most, popular with a mixed crowd of workers finishing shifts and visitors alike. I show you how the avenue looks once most of the shops have closed for the night.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Madrid: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tortilla española and Malasaña, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
