About this tour

This session follows Acronafplia's wall, the oldest fortification on the promontory, tracing its line beneath the more visited Palamidi above. You see the older stonework and then a view up toward the newer fortresses, with the relationship between all three explained. It stays along this one older wall.

I walk it slowly, since I live right on this slope and know the wall's line better than most. Questions about how the fortresses relate to each other come up often, and I answer from years of living beneath them.

This suits anyone who wants the full defensive history rather than only the most visited fortress. It also works well paired with the Palamidi session for the complete picture.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nafplio before heading out.

  2. Acronafplia Wall Line 21 min

The camera follows the oldest fortified wall on the promontory, and I explain how it predates both Palamidi and Bourtzi by centuries.

  3. View toward the Newer Fortresses 21 min

You see Palamidi rising above from this lower vantage point, and I point out how each later fortress built on lessons learned from this older one.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Nafplio: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Nemea red wine and Akronafplia Slope, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Athens time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
