The Hague by bike: parks and quiet canals
Highlights
- A public garden beside a former palace
- Quiet canals away from the main squares
- A wider view of the Binnenhof complex
- The city seen at bike pace
- Green space right in the centre
About this tour
This session rides between a public garden, a quiet canal street and a wider view of the Binnenhof across the water. You see how green the centre stays once you leave the main squares, and finish with a fuller view of the government complex than a closer walk allows. It moves faster than most sessions since it is filmed from a bike.
We start slowly in the garden before picking up pace along the canal, and I narrate more briefly while moving to keep the frame steady. Questions get answered at each stop rather than while riding. A short map of the route follows by message.
It suits anyone who wants to cover more ground and see the city's greener side in one session. It also works well as a wider-angle follow-up to a closer Binnenhof walk.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of The Hague before heading out.
-
Paleistuin 21 min
The camera moves through the palace garden's open lawns, and I explain how the park has stayed public even as the palace beside it changed royal use over the centuries.
-
A quiet canal street 21 min
Along a canal a few minutes away, you see reflections and quiet house fronts, a contrast to the busier squares in the centre.
-
Hofvijver from the far bank 21 min
We finish across the water from the Binnenhof, giving a wider view than the closer sessions offer, and I point out how the whole complex sits against the modern skyline behind it.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about The Hague: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Erwtensoep (pea soup) and Scheveningen, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Amsterdam time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
