About this tour

This session shows a small ceramics workshop in Granada, from a potter shaping a piece on the wheel to the same piece glazed in the region's traditional blue and green tones. You see a technique and colour palette that trace back to patterns established under Moorish rule. The two stops follow the piece through its main stages of making.

We begin at the wheel with a short check of the light, then move to the glazing table, pausing to explain the pigments used. I answer questions about the tradition's history as we go and send a short note on the workshop afterward.

This suits anyone interested in craft traditions with a long, traceable history, and travellers who enjoy seeing a process rather than only a finished object. It works well as a calmer session between busier stops.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Granada before heading out.

  2. Shaping the piece 15 min

The camera holds on a potter shaping a bowl on the wheel, and I explain how the technique passed down here traces back to patterns established under Moorish rule.

  3. The glazing table 15 min

You see the same piece glazed in the blue and green tones typical of Granada ceramics, and I point out how the specific pigments used have stayed largely consistent for centuries.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Granada: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Remojón granadino and Albaicín, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking".
