Tempelhofer Feld: an airport turned park, live
Highlights
- Runway markings beneath a public park
- One of the world's largest buildings, by floor
- An airport's open field, repurposed
- Kites and cyclists on an old runway
- Tempelhofer Feld's huge scale
About this tour
This session walks Tempelhofer Feld, from the old runway to the huge terminal building at its edge. You see the runway markings still visible beneath the joggers, cyclists and kite flyers who use the space today. The session finishes near the terminal, once among the largest buildings in the world by floor area.
We open with a short sound check on the open field, since it can be windy. I walk at an easy pace along the runway and take questions about the site's history throughout. Afterwards I send a short note on the airport's story and its current public use.
This suits anyone interested in how a former airport gets reused at a genuinely huge scale. It also works well as an easy, open-air session on a clear day.

Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
