About this tour

This session works through La Latina's tapas bars, from the Cava Baja to smaller counters nearby. You see huevos rotos, a properly runny tortilla de patatas and vermut poured straight from the tap. It is five bars and five dishes, chosen for what locals actually order.

The guide opens with a sound check, then moves bar to bar, showing each dish as it is ordered and explaining what makes it right. Questions come in as the walk goes, and a shortlist of the bars follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone wanting to know what to order in a Madrid tapas bar before going themselves. It also suits viewers who already love Spanish food and want the details behind it.

Included

  • Live video session with a local guide
  • A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
  • A short list of places and dishes to try later

Not included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Madrid before heading out.

  2. Cava Baja bar counter 21 min

On the Cava Baja, the guide orders huevos rotos, broken eggs over crisp potatoes, and shows how the dish is meant to be mixed at the table. He explains why this street became La Latina's tapas spine.

  3. Tortilla and gildas 21 min

At a second bar, the guide cuts into a tortilla de patatas kept deliberately runny in the middle, then points out a gilda, the skewered pickled pepper and anchovy. He explains what separates a proper version of each from a tourist one.

  4. Vermut de grifo 21 min

The camera settles at a bar pouring vermut de grifo straight from the tap, alongside a caña served at the right temperature. The guide runs through the five bars and five dishes covered on the walk, all off any tourist menu.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Madrid: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Cocido madrileño and Malasaña, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
