About this tour
This session is an outdoor art history walk with a specialist, built around what can actually be seen for free around the Uffizi. The camera moves through the gallery's own courtyard, lined with statues of famous Florentines, into Piazza della Signoria for Cellini's bronze Perseus, and under the Loggia dei Lanzi with its full-scale sculpture. It treats the square itself as an open-air museum rather than going inside the paid galleries.
After a sound check, the walk moves through the three outdoor stops in order, with the art historian taking questions on the sculpture and the period throughout. A short reading list on the pieces shown goes out once the call ends.
This suits anyone with an interest in Renaissance sculpture who cannot get inside the Uffizi itself, or anyone who wants context before a future visit to the museum. It also suits anyone who simply enjoys hearing serious art history explained in plain terms.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Florence before heading out.
-
The Uffizi courtyard 21 min
The camera moves through the Uffizi's long courtyard, open to the street and free to walk, where niches on both walls hold statues of Florentines from Dante to Michelangelo facing each other.
-
Piazza della Signoria statues 21 min
In the square outside, the camera takes in the open-air gallery of Renaissance sculpture, including Cellini's bronze Perseus holding Medusa's head, and the guide explains what made the piece so difficult to cast.
-
Loggia dei Lanzi 21 min
Under the Loggia dei Lanzi, the camera moves along the full-scale marble and bronze figures sheltered there, and the art historian explains how a covered public loggia became its own outdoor museum.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Florence: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pappa al pomodoro and Santa Croce, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
