About this tour
This session moves through the Speicherstadt and into HafenCity, from the red-brick warehouses and the Kannengießerort bridge to a working carpet warehouse floor and the Elbphilharmonie's public viewing platform. The camera takes in both the historic warehouse district and the new buildings that have grown up beside it. The guide explains how a working port became one of Hamburg's newest neighbourhoods.
The call opens with a short sound check, then follows the canals and streets stop by stop, with time for questions about the architecture along the way. A short list of the buildings and viewpoints mentioned goes out by message afterwards.
This suits anyone interested in architecture or in how old ports get a second life, whether planning a visit to Hamburg or simply curious from home. It also works for anyone who wants the view from the Elbphilharmonie without booking a ticket.

Speicherstadt warehouses 21 min
Red-brick warehouses line the canals of the Speicherstadt, built on timber piles over water, and the guide explains why this remains the largest warehouse district of its kind anywhere.
-
Kannengießerort and carpet warehouse 21 min
From the Kannengießerort bridge, the view takes in the Wasserschloss, the district's water castle, before the camera steps inside a working carpet warehouse floor where rugs are still stored and traded much as they always were.
-
Elbphilharmonie plaza 21 min
The walk finishes on the Elbphilharmonie's free public viewing platform, looking out over HafenCity, and the guide explains how this old dockyard turned into a new district of the city.

-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fischbrötchen (fish sandwich) and Speicherstadt / HafenCity, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
