About this tour

This evening covers three natural wine bars across Sololaki and Vera, tasting through bottles from small qvevri producers along the way. You see wines from Kakheti, Imereti and Racha poured and compared side by side, snacks of cheese, pkhali and bread laid out at the counter, and a sommelier explaining which bottles are worth seeking out. It moves bar to bar rather than staying in one place all evening.

The call opens with a sound check, then moves between the three bars at an easy pace, with the guide talking to whoever is pouring at each one. Questions come along the way, and a short list of the wines and producers mentioned follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone interested in Georgian natural wine beyond what reaches export markets. It also suits those who want a sommelier's honest opinion without having to ask for it themselves.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Tbilisi before heading out.

  2. A Sololaki wine bar 21 min

At the first wine bar in Sololaki, the camera moves along a shelf of bottles from small qvevri producers, the guide talking through what makes a wine natural rather than industrial.

  3. A Vera wine bar 21 min

In Vera, the second bar pours wines from three regions side by side, Kakheti, Imereti and Racha, the guide explaining how the style changes from one to the next.

  4. A sommelier's counter 21 min

At the last stop, a sommelier talks the guide through snacks of cheese, pkhali and bread laid out on the counter, along with advice on which bottles travel well.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Tbilisi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Georgian qvevri wine and Old Tbilisi, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • Times are shown in Tbilisi time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

Questions about this tour

What will the session cover?

The guide walks through Tbilisi, showing you Georgian National Museum and Chreli-Abano Bathhouse live on camera, plus whatever else you would like to see.

What happens if my connection drops?

Rejoin with the same link within a few minutes and the guide will catch you up on anything you missed.

Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?

Anything, any time. Sessions leave room for your own questions throughout, not just at the end.

Is this suitable if I do not drink?

Yes. Say so when you book and the guide will focus on the atmosphere and venues rather than the drinks list.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
