About this tour

This session is a walk through Stockholm's metro art, moving between T-Centralen, Kungsträdgården, Solna Centrum and Stadion. At each station the camera picks out a different piece, from blue vines painted on raw rock to a rainbow arching over a platform. It is a look at a side of Stockholm most visitors pass through without noticing.

The guide opens with a sound check, then travels station by station, filming the art and answering questions along the way. A short list of the stations and what to look for is sent once the session ends.

This suits anyone interested in public art or design, or anyone who has always wondered about the stories behind these stations. It also works well for those who already know Stockholm but have never looked closely at its underground.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Stockholm before heading out.

  2. T-Centralen blue line 21 min

In the blue line platforms of T-Centralen, the camera follows the blue vine patterns painted across the raw rock ceiling, and the guide explains how this became one of the first stations in the network's decorated line.

  3. Kungsträdgården station 21 min

At Kungsträdgården station, the camera shows the fragments of old palace statues and columns set against the exposed rock walls underground, and the guide explains where these pieces originally stood in the city above.

  4. Solna Centrum 21 min

The camera turns through Solna Centrum, where a red painted rock ceiling meets a stretch of green forest scene, and the guide explains the environmental message the artists built into the design in the 1970s.

  5. Stadion station 21 min

At Stadion, the camera looks up at the rainbow arching across the rock above the platform, and the guide talks about the artists behind these stations and how the network cares for the art today.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Stockholm: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Cinnamon buns (kanelbullar) and Djurgården, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Stockholm time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
