About this tour
This session walks from Antwerp Centraal's domed hall through the diamond district on Hoveniersstraat to the Art Nouveau houses of Cogels-Osylei. You see the street-level security around the diamond trade explained by someone who used to work inside it. It ends at Dageraadplaats, the square this street was built to lead into.
The guide starts with a sound check under the station dome, then walks the diamond district before moving on to Zurenborg's houses. You can ask questions about the diamond trade, the architecture or the neighbourhood's history as it comes up. A short list of the houses and their styles is sent afterwards.
This suits anyone curious about the diamond trade from outside its locked doors, and admirers of Art Nouveau architecture. It also suits former visitors who only passed through the station without exploring further.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Antwerp before heading out.
-
Antwerp Centraal station hall 21 min
The camera looks up into the domed hall of Antwerp Centraal, a building so grand that locals call it the railway cathedral. The guide explains why the station was built on this scale for a city that never quite needed it.
-
Hoveniersstraat 21 min
On Hoveniersstraat the camera stays at street level, showing the guarded entrances of the diamond district rather than any office inside. A former diamond sorter, now retired, explains how security here has always worked from the outside in.
-
Cogels-Osylei 21 min
The camera moves slowly down Cogels-Osylei, past houses built in competing Art Nouveau and neo-Gothic styles within a few years of each other. The guide finishes at Dageraadplaats, the square where the street's original residents used to gather.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Antwerp: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Antwerp hands (chocolate) and Het Zuid, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
